Don’t Delay Plumbing Repairs

24 hr plumbing
Reading Time: 2 minutes

When you discover a leaking pipe in the middle of the night, your first reaction should be to call a 24 hour plumbing service. It may seem inconvenient at the time, but leaving the problem until the next morning could be more costly in the long term.

The Hazards of Plumbing Problems
Many people take for granted the wonders of modern plumbing. It was only in the last 130 years that indoor flush toilets and reliable home plumbing became commonplace in the United States. Today, our intricate plumbing and sewerage systems are more than just a convenience. They provide clean, safe water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning, and they help us to manage waste disposal and sanitation.

So when something goes wrong with your plumbing, it’s not just an inconvenience – it’s a potential health and safety hazard. Leaking pipes and faucets can cause the growth of dangerous molds and bacteria, cause structural damage, and encourage vermin to enter the home.

Leaving plumbing problems unattended – however minor they may seem – can also lead to more expensive repairs to your plumbing system and your property later on. That’s why it’s best to address issues as soon as you notice them by calling a 24 hour plumbing service.

Common Emergency Plumbing Problems
Be aware of these common plumbing problems, and call an expert when they occur:

  • Clogged Drains or Slow Drainage. Slow-draining sinks, bathtubs, and showers are a sure sign that something is wrong. In most instances, there is simply a build-up of waste matter and soap clogging the drain. While there are a few safe DIY solutions you can try at home, the problem may be more severe and require a qualified plumber to resolve. For instance, the blockage may be caused by roots penetrating your pipes, in which case you’ll need a professional camera inspection and rooter service to clear the obstruction.
  • Clogged Toilets. If your toilet is leaking, not flushing properly, or making strange noises when you try to flush, you need to have it checked and fixed as soon as possible. Clogged toilets are not only inconvenient, but unhygienic and a health hazard. You can try using a common, household cup plunger to alleviate the blockage, but if that doesn’t work then call your emergency plumber. Unresolved toilet stoppages can result in structural damage to your pipes, or a raw sewerage backup in your home or garden. Yuck!
  • Leaking or Damaged Water Heater. You may not notice issues with your water heater at first, which is why it’s a good idea to perform regular maintenance checks. A leaking water heater can cause water damage to your home, rust the water heater itself, and cost you a fortune in heating bills in the winter.
  • Burst or leaking pipes and faucets. A burst pipe is one of the most drastic plumbing emergencies you can experience. Use the main shut-off valve to stop the flow of water, and then immediately call your plumber. Leaking pipes and faucets may not seem as big a deal, but they can also cause water damage, rust, and mold, and may lead to even bigger leaks if not addressed quickly.
